Seeking information on John T. CHANDLER of Grove City, Christian Co., IL circa 1870. I need to know his wife's maiden name. His 3 children born by his first wife were all born in IL - Ira Thomas CHANDLER, Ida B. CHANDLER and Susan M. CHANDLER. Their mother appears to have died before the 1880 census in Collin Co, TX, where John T. Chandler was living with his new wife, Sarah M. HEFNER-CHANDLER and her two children James HEFNER and William HEFNER and a sister Nancy SIMONS. John was born about 1826 in TN. His father was born in VA and his mother was born in NC.

Hello All, I am looking for any information on my great grandparents who are buried in Bethany Cemetery,Christian County, South Fork Township: Lewis A. BANEY: tombstone indicates he died March 29, 1884 Fannie Elizabeth SHERRILL: tombstone indicates she died Jan. 30, 1890. (I think the stones were put up later don't know if death dates are correct or not.) I can't find one thing about their deaths or any other information. I would be so grateful for any information or ideas, places to search, or other places to hunt.
Update:
Hello,
Many, many thanks. I failed to put birthdates as indicated on the tombstones (Lewis BANEY dob 9/25/1828 and Fannie Elizabeth SHERRILL dob 2/11/1838.)
We are relatively sure that the original spelling of BANEY was BÖHNE --my gr. grandfather was a German immigrant--but I'm sure the spelling was changed throughout the years depending on who was recording it. Lewis and Fanny were married April 28, 1869 in Sangamon.
Lewis voted in Sangamon (Cotton Hill township) in 1870 and 1872 (IL. State Archives), but was not on the Sangamon Co., 1870 census as Louis and Fanny. But on the 1870 Sangamon census, I can find a George (might be Lewis--another one of his first names--maybe a formal name? just a mistake?) and Fanny, and a child (John) about the right age (2 months) who could be my grandfather, Harry who was born in April. George and Fanny are listed as 10 years different (which is correct) in age even though the birth year is off by a couple of years. It looks like maybe someone else gave the information and was unsure of themselves--had some things correct, but not all.
Louis and Fannie BANEY, along with their 3 children are in the 1880 Christian Co. census--South Fork Township. Another bit of information.. Lewis traveled to California to mine for gold sometime before 1853. (Lewis' aunt was Selina Beard Böhne who married Harmon Henry Böhne in 1841--H.H. died in 1847. She later married Rev. David CRAWFORD.) Selina's father, Thomas, was an important figure in Cass county. Thanks for all of your help.
Best Regards,
Marsha

Looking for an obit on a Modes DEMERS / DERMOTT He was found in the 1860 census in Illinois, Christian Cty. He died possibly 1860-61 after the census was taken. I have a written article stating that he died when youngest child, Julia was 7. The census states she was 6 in 1860 and he is listed, it is possible he died that year after the census was taken and the 9 was mistaken for a 7. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
