I am looking for information on Catherine E ALEXANDER b.1840 in Muskingum County, Ohio. She married William GORRELL on March 4, 1863. Catherine and William moved to Pana, Illinois where I found them as W.F. & C.E. GORRELL in the 1870 census. No children were recorded at that time. William was with G. Co. 18 Ohio Inf. Catherine applied for pension Aug 26, 1909 in Illinois. I am assuming they stayed in Pana due to Catherine's brother Robert Bruce ALEXANDER and family lived in Pana as well. Catherine kept the family bible where I found the information on the ALEXANDER family. Catherine was the youngest of Thomas ALEXANDER and Esther MILLER 's children.

I am seeking information on Abraham JACOBS and his wife Sarah BERRY. They had a son, James E. JACOBS, who was born in or around Taylorville, Illinois on Oct. 31, 1864. Abraham served about three months in the Union Army and was released at Springfield, Ill. in 1865 (a copy of the handwritten release in still in the Jacobs family). James E. JACOBS joined the Sharpsburg United Methodist Church in 1894 (certifiate in my possession). He married Anna Caroline LYONS in Taylorville, Ill., on Dec. 13, 1894 (copy of certificate in my possession). James and Anna's first two children, Bryce and Blanche JACOBS, were born in Taylorville. Does anyone know anything more about either Abraham or James? Is there a cemetery at Sharpsburg U.M. Church?

I seek, first, Eugene VIRDEN, whose mother (Sarah BURLEW Virden) lived in with him in Assumption when she died in 1944, and his brother, Charles VIRDEN (b. about 1881) apparently died before their mother. Both were sons of Willis and Sarah (Burlew) VIRDEN, Flat Branch township, Shelby County.
Second, I want to learn fo the family of Willis and Sarah Virden's granddaughter, Elsie (Little) ENDRIS (wife of Raymond), who reportedly lived in Pana.
Third, I seek grandchildren of William J. and Louisa (Burlew) COULTER of Moweaqua Township, Shelby Couty. Sarah Virden and Louisa Coulter were sisters.
The eldest child of William and Louisa Coulter was William H. "Will" COULTER, who also lived in Moweaqua. He had eight daughters and two sons. in 1938, it was reported that four lived in Pana:
Mrs. Frank (Evelyn) BURTON, Mrs. John (Harriett) PASTOR, Raymond COULTER, and Mrs. Henry (Maxine) "HOSTHEMKE." (HORSTHEMKE is probalby the correct spelling) In 1944, all three sisters were still in Pana, but Burton was spelled BURTIN and Maxine's married name was spelled "HORSTHELTE." Raymond COULTER had moved to Macon County.

I am looking for any information regarding either the CHAMBERS, HAMILTON, HUNTER, or ORMSBY families who lived in or around Morrisonville and/or Christian County in the middle 1800's and early 1900's. My GGG Grandparents were William H. HAMILTON and Mary (HUNTER) HAMILTON. Their son William Charles HAMILTON of Eureka married Mary Emma CHAMBERS in 1880 and they lived in or arround Eureka until about 1890 when they moved to Colfax, Illinois in Mc Lean County and started a nursery and a restaurant. Mary Emma's family is of great interest to me as she also was to have come from Louisiana as Harold Mayfield CHAMBERS was. Possibly there is a connection. It is said that Mary Emma's parents who lived around Morrisonville were killed in a Riverboat accident and she was raised by a minister named F.O. ORMSBY. I am hoping someone there knows about this story and has information that would allow me to trace Emma's family. Thank you in advance for any information you may have. P.S. I have a picture of Mary Emma's mother which was taken by Wm. H. BECK Portrait and Landscape Photographer, Morrisonville, Ill.
