My gr-gr-grandmother is Laura Ann RAPE (aka Manira Ann RAPE). She married William Henry KESTER on 02/13/1873 in May Township, Christian Cy. Illinois. She was born in Illinois on either 03/18/1849 or sometime ca. 1854 (records conflict). She died probably in Burwell, Nebraska on 02/06/1905. 1880 Christian Cy. Census says her father was born in Tennessee and mother born in Kentucky. 1900 Garfield Cy, NE census says father and mother both born in Kentucky. 1880 census says she was born ca. 1854. 1900 Census says she was born on 03/18/1849. This is all I know. I would like to know her parents' names, and any possible connections would be greatly appreciated.

My Great Grandfather was George Barton WILLIAMS (GB). His death certificate indicates he was born in Mount Auburn, Christian Co. Ill. The following is an exerpt from a letter I received from a great grandson from his first marriage. We know nothing of GB's family except what was written below. Does any of this sound familiar to anyone? GB's father was a successful businessman in Tuscola, Illinois. He owned a tile factory with John JACOBSEN, who was also a land owner in the Brocton area. Being in the upper class at that time, GB was introduced to Tracy WIESE, whose family had considerable land holdings in the Broadlands area. GB married Tracy WIESE and decided to try his hand at farming with the WIESE family, since he did not like the tile business with his father. George F. was their first child. They had a daughter stillborn, next came Arthur and finally the daughter who died with Tracy at childbirth. According to what we can piece together the WIESE family became disenchanted with GB and removed him from the family farm. He moved to Iowa with Tracy, George and Aurther in search of land to homestead. Tracy died in Iowas during childbirth. The WIESE family came to Iowa and brought her back to Broadlands to be buried. This is when he married Gertrude VANHOOSER. Arthur ended upin St. Louis where he died in the poorhouse. He was a gambler and followed the racetracks. He had a son.
